World Meteorological Day (يوم الأرصاد الجوية العالمي) is celebrated annually on March 23 to mark the coming into force of the Convention establishing the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) on March 23, 1950. As a specialized agency of the United Nations, the WMO coordinates global efforts in weather forecasting, climate monitoring, atmospheric research, and hydrological services. The annual observance emphasizes the essential contribution of meteorological science to international public safety, maritime and aviation security, and sustainable agricultural development.
To commemorate World Meteorological Day on March 23, 1965, Kuwait’s postal administration issued a dedicated commemorative stamp series printed by the Pakistan Security Printing Corporation. Releasing special postage for this occasion highlighted Kuwait's active integration into international scientific networks following its independence, as well as its expansion of national meteorological and environmental monitoring infrastructure across the Arabian Gulf.
