Postage due stamps (أجور البريد المستحقة) are issued by postal authorities to collect unpaid or insufficient postage directly from the recipient upon delivery. Unlike standard definitive or commemorative stamps purchased by the sender to prepay service, postage due issues serve an operational, accounting function within the mail network, indicating the specific penalty or deficit amount owed before a piece of mail can be handed over. To standardize postal operations following full independence and the introduction of the Kuwaiti dinar currency, Kuwait’s postal administration issued a new dedicated Postage Due series on April 1, 1965. Featuring traditional Islamic arabesque ornamentation and clear bilingual denominations in both fils and Arabic script, this functional issue ensured administrative efficiency across post offices and delivery routes during Kuwait's rapid modernization in the mid-1960s.
