Issued in 1966, this stamp commemorates the Fisheries Conference of the Near East Countries, a regional gathering held under the auspices of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). The conference brought together representatives and experts from countries of the Near East to discuss the development of fisheries, the management of marine resources, and ways to improve food production and economic opportunities through sustainable fishing practices. By issuing this commemorative stamp, the State of Kuwait highlighted the importance of fisheries to food security, economic development, and regional cooperation. The issue emphasized the value of marine resources in supporting livelihoods and nutrition, while promoting collaboration among neighboring countries in the conservation, research, and development of the fishing industry.
