Education Day (يوم العلم) in Kuwait was observed annually to celebrate scientific advancement, academic excellence, and the expansion of the nation's public education system. During the mid-1960s, Kuwait was undergoing rapid educational modernization, expanding secondary institutions and preparing for the establishment of Kuwait University in 1966. The landmark Shuwaikh Secondary School—represented on the stamp by its iconic clock tower served as the premier secondary institution and academic heart of the country during this transformative era. To mark Education Day on April 15, 1965, Kuwait’s postal administration issued a commemorative stamp set printed by Joh. Enschedé in the Netherlands. Pairing the clock tower of Shuwaikh Secondary School with an atomic symbol highlighted Kuwait's vision of linking foundational regional education with modern scientific inquiry, framing learning and technological progress as vital drivers of the nation's post-independence growth.
